Lasting impression on the young artist:

I remember hearing this song for the first time in the early 70's. It was on a long drive home from a vacation. After midnight and everyone was asleep, only light was the glow from the dashboard. Always the night owl, my attention was outside the window ~ watching the dark shapes of kudzu-covered trees defined by the moonlit sky and the occasional glow of oncoming cars. Already in a mesmerized state, the beautiful drum beat intro to the song permeated the visions my young imagination was creating. It was beautiful, mysterious and so tranquil.. No drug could ever duplicate that feeling.

If you've never heard "Hypnotized" by Fleetwood Mac (the original album version) I urge you find it - put the headphones on, turn out the light and prepare yourself to be swept away...

"Hypnotized" is a song written by Bob Welch. The song originally featured on Fleetwood Mac's 1973 album Mystery To Me. The track was released on a single as the B-side of "For Your Love", and has been described as "gorgeous and lyrically strong", and referred to as the album's best track.

Hypnosis and dreaming are specifically referred to in the lyrics, "Cause what matters most is the feeling you get when you're hypnotized... and it seems like a dream, they got you hypnotized." Welch draws upon references to places such as Mexico and North Carolina. According to Welch, the mystical atmosphere of the song was heavily influenced by his residence at the Benifold Mansion in Hampshire, England, a place he described as "rather spooky and strange even in summertime".
