Description
Old Leather / Loved to Tatters
What a wonderful surprise! This spiral took on the look of old, worn, tattered leather ~ barely hanging on to the stitching. The soft, faded colors still whisper of it's familiar, symbolic nature. After all, spirals are found everywhere - encoded into plants, animals, humans, the earth and galaxies. The spiral, so open to personal interpretation, has been a visual communication since the Ancients put coal and mud to boulders and cave walls. It's a fascinating visual of perpetual motion! We use the imagery of spiraling to convey movement, growth and destruction in nature ~ and the abstract of spiraling to explain social interaction, core beliefs or a state of mind....
.... and of course, some of us are mesmerized, just looking at them
With this particular spiral, I see the braiding of time, the journey of life and the paths of family, friends and lovers intertwined through the years.
I wonder what you see... ?
