About the Face in the Rock:
The Face In The Rock is a sculpture I got for my Mom years ago... She loved it (and those who knew my Mom know it was just the sort of unusaul, surrealistic art that she loved!)
History of the Face In The Rock: This is one of those mass reproduced statues you find in garden centers and import specialty stores. This one was just so unusual and out of place ~ A face emerging from a rock ~ :) Oh hell yes! We both fell in love with it when we first saw it, so neither one of us bought it. That being said, hints along the likes of "You should get The Face ~ for me!" and "The Face would look stunning right over there!" were thrown at each other for several weeks and then eventually stopped as other things dominated our lives. About 2 or 3 months later, I was in the same shop with a friend and "The Face" was still there. I took it as a sign and bought it for her birthday which was still several months away. It was the hardest secret I ever had to keep, but I was able to do it and gave it to her that December.
I got my love of art from my Mom and I'm dedicating "Face In The Rock" gallery to her memory. I took several pictures of this statue and I am using them in some digital collages. Please enjoy the humor and surrealism behind these works as we enjoyed "The Face In The Rock" for so many years.
