It's obvious that SweetPea was a little confused as to the "nature of dragons"...
In fact, he looks more like Fred the Squirrel. All through the creation process, SweetPea heard the stories and fantasies of dragons his very young, very imaginative creator entertained himself with. He was also fascinated with Fred, a little scamp of a squirrel who came through the window everyday for a handout. Without missing a beat, Fred's arrival would be incorporated into the current dragon-drama. In time, SweetPea came to believe that Fred must be a dragon and steered the creation in the likeness of Fred, effectively rendering himself with the heart of a dragon, the wonderment of a little boy and the bright eyes and cute face of a squirrel...

How delightfully messed up is that?!
