elusive sleep
20 minute snatches every couple of hours
and then
watching filigree shadows travel the ceiling
driven by the sun as it's hidden by passing clouds
making the room seem to breathe
light .. lighter .. lighter
dark
light
dark .. darker..
light
too tired to fall asleep my mind wanders
endless fields of aimless thoughts
of daydreams and slumber dreams
this must be where the weaving begins
stitched snippets of a thousand dreams
morphed into confusing scenarios
somehow familiar
a mix of my own making (unaware)
the room, the shadows, the sun
and the clock frozen in time
light .. dark .. lighter
dark
and the blue cat talking about the storm last night,
of the jazz brunch he just shared with a dog named Jezebel
.... wait ... what?
